When you play a major role in a wedding … bride, groom, bridesmaid, groomsman, parent of the bride or groom … chances are you are going to be asked or expected to give a toast or say a few words.
There are no hard or fast rules about giving a wedding speech. It can be humorous or sentimental … or both! Generally, they are short … no more than 5 minutes. But, because this is a once-in-a-lifetime very special event, there isn’t a lot of wiggle room for falling on your face.
