Podcast Highlights
Length: 28 minutes, 5 seconds
Ric Morgan knew as early as high school that he wanted to be a professional speaker. So he worked with his university to create a degree program that would help him develop the skills he needed to be successful. But despite all that preparation, there were still things he learned only by being out on the road as a professional speaker. In this episode, Ric shares his journey and the lessons learned — including some of the “dark side” of professional speaking. Listen and be forwarned — and forearmed if this is a path you want to follow, as well.
Ric Morgan’s Big Tip: If you want to be a professional speaker, then you need to treat your speaking as a business. “If you want to be that long-term if you want to be out here in 40 years, you’re going to have to have a business plan,” he says. “It isn’t just a matter of getting a speaking engagement, it’s doing the whole thing. You’ve to do the whole package.”
