Don’t take yourself too seriously

Don't take yourself too seriously

In this video, I chat with Carol McManus, known in some circles as “The LinkedIn Lady”, about her public speaking superpower.

In the video, she shared her advice for being an effective speaker. Her tips and suggestions include:

  1. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Realize you’ve just changed your position from sitting in the audience to standing before them … but you’re still the same person.
  2. The audience is there to support you. Embrace and tap into their support of you.
  3. Your purpose for being there is to serve the audience. Be of service and you will succeed.

Other speakers in this series from that event include: Bridget Brady, Maurice DiMino, Eldonna Lewis-Fernandez and Martin Presse.
