On October 22, 2013, I was one of three panelists sharing information about public speaking at the Western Museums Association’s 2012 Annual Meeting in Palm Springs, California. In this excerpt from my part of the presentation, I talk about the body of the speech.
In summary, the body of the speech is where the content is that people came to hear from you live. This is where you provide value, support your point of view, and address any concerns the audience might have.
There are several types of content you can put into the body of your speech. In this presentation, I suggest three of them:
- Proofs, facts, figures,
- Stories to illustrate your points
- Addressing rebuttals or contrary views
