Superheros as Metaphor

I was doing some research on superheros and, although I knew I wasn’t the first person to use superheros as a metaphor for something else, I was struck by how many ways and titles are available that delve into the metaphor of the superhero. Here is a small selection:

In addition to these I found several titles that were aimed at children or the educators of children to help them develop self-esteem. There were also several titles that compared superheros to mythology and religion … from both a positive and negative point of view.

Superheros are powerful metaphors in our lives … they speak to us on a deep level. In fact, I believe that are just a modern incarnation of the mythological heroes. We all need heroes to look up to and model our behaviors after. Now I know that Public Speaking Super Powers will be in good company when it gets published!
