Public Speaking Tip #9: Practicing Speaking Can Help You in Emotional Situations

This week’s tip is a little bit different. I share with you how practicing public speaking helped me do something that was emotionally difficult, but important to me: Saying a few words at my father’s Celebration of Life.

You never know when you are going to have an opportunity to say a few words in a situation that is emotionally charged, such as a wedding, funeral, or even promotion or graduation.

When you’ve become comfortable speaking in front of an audience through practice, you can take that confidence with you in situations where you might not have the presence of mind to call on specific speaking techniques.

So take every opportunity to practice speaking in front of an audience, so you can step up to the plate and honor those you love when the time calls for it.

Do you have questions about public speaking? Just ask and I’ll answer in a future public speaking tip video.
