Some organization suggestions

There are plenty of ways to organize your speech, but all of them are, in reality, modifications and enhancements of the basic organizational structure I discuss in this video.

To review, I suggested two basic organizational frameworks:

  • Open
  • Body
  • Close

and

  • Say what you’re going to say
  • Say it
  • Summarize what you’ve just said

You’ll notice that the second is merely a defining of what an open, body and close is … not a radical change in framework. You’ll always need an open, body and close … but what shape those three parts of the speech might take can change depending on your purpose and your topic.

The above video was excerpted from two 45-minute workshops I facilitated for a group of teens and young adults. I am available to speak to your group, both in-person and virtually, on a variety of topics. For more information, visit www.carmaspence.com/speaker.
